de sus profesores y.el asombro de sus condisc?pulos. Pruebas evi
denies del alto renombre que gozaba V?zquez Queipo, cuando s?lo
era estudiante de la Universidad, son : haberle cabido el singular
honor y la extraordinaria gloria de ser nombrado, en aquel cen
tro docente, profesor sustituto . de Jurisprudencia en ausencias de
sus sabios maestros; y el haber merecido la serialada distinci?n de
que el Claustro Universitario, por un?nime .y entusiasta elecci?n,
le encargase repetidas veces de la explicaci?n de la clase de. Mate
m?ticas. Si era grande su competencia, as? en Matem?ticas como
en Jurisprudencia, no lo era menor en F?sica; puesto que, en
1826, cuando solamente, contaba 22 altos de edad, tras brillant?si
mas oposiciones, gan? la c?tedra,de' esta ciencia en la misma Uni
versidad de Valladolid. En este misrno a?o, ?previos muy celebra
dos ejercicios?, obtuvo el grado de Doctor en Derecho, y, desde en
tonces hasta el verano de 1829, se dedic? simultaneamente al des
empe?o de su c?tedra y alejercicio de la abogac?a, ejecutando am
bas cosas con gran maestr?a y lucimiento.
Sus progresos y triunfos en Valladolid le rodearon de una
atm?sfera de celebridad tan extraordinaria, que transcendi? a Ma
drid, hasta el punto de que Fernando VII se interesara por ?l, pen
sion?ndole a Paris para que all? completase sus estudios f?sico
matem?ticos, como alumno de la Escuela Central de Artes y Ma
nufacturas que acababa de crearse. Ya en Paris, desde los prime
ros (Has, por su gran inteligencia, por su amor al trabajo y asi=
duidad disciplinada, por la precisi?n y diafanidad de sus ideas,
por la forma castigada de exponerlas y por sus delicados modales,
destac?se entre sus condisc?pulos pertenecientes a varias naciones,
atrayendo sobre s? la atenci?n de sus egregios profesores, el c?le
bre qu?mico Juan B. Dumas y el ilustre f?sico Juan Claudio Euge
nio Peclet, quienes al momento le nombraron ayudante preparador
de las clases que ambos insignes sabios explicaban, y siempre le
prodigaron pruebas de aprecio 'y distinci?n superiores a todo en
carecimiento.
Al abandonar V?zquez Queipo aquella Escuela entonces la
primera del mundo? obtuvo del Director y Consejo de Estudios
uno de los m?s brillantes certificados expedidos por ellos.
